Alvin is back from 4 days camp.
He slept a total of 15 hours during the 4 days.
He slept 15 hours after coming back.
1st time ESC organised 2 camps and put them together.
The 4 days was full of ups and downs.
Why?
The downs :
Cos this year ESC management had changed and I can't clique with the people.
The past facilitators team members that I had worked with, had graduated.
Even the term "Facilitator" has changed to "Level Leader"
I seriously miss working with Hazim, Din, FiFi, Bear, Firdaus, Kak Pah, Fitri, Saufi, Hafiz and Zul.
The people were all malays lol.
I notice I clique with malays 100 times better.
The NEW Level Leader Heads dont understand the way I work.
I prefer to bond with my group's participants rather than stand at the frontline to entertain them.
Why must each and everyone of us stand at the front and entertain the participants during buffer time?
I didn't do that and got some lecture from them at every debrief.
Why can't we split the workload like some will entertain the participants as a whole while some will sit with the participants and bond with them?
There's seriously no teamwork.
They only focus whether you got step out to lead cheers or entertain the participants during buffer time.
During one of the debriefs Hazim(Previous Facilitaior Head) said something like this : "Everyone works differently. Some Level Leaders prefer to stand at the front and talk to crowds. They are called entertainers. Some prefer to stay at the back and lead the participants to do cheers and play games. They also encourage participants to step out of their comfort zone to lead the group. They are called encouragers."
I really agree with Hazim and really respect him.
He's the one who bring me into the Faciliator team.
(I don't know I mention this how many times already)
I work as an encourager.
Too bad, the new heads don't know.
Towards the end of the 2nd day my mind keeps telling me to sneak out of the camp.
The feeling is super cui after debriefs.
The ups:
The 1st half of the camp were for the Diploma Clubs main committee members.
The groups were called to come up their own group name.
I was attached to a group that called themselves "Rojak".
LOL damn funny.
The cheers ,and performance that we came up for variety night, was something to do with rojak.
Really proud of them =)
Oh ya during 2nd day dinner time CS came and gave Zhi Yong watermelon and the dessert she made! LOL then I got papaya and dessert from her(of cos lah I'm her papa you know). That's so sweet of her! =)
Had SCDF training also.
Learnt fire fighting skills and first aid.
I'm certified first aider that knows fire fighting. Haha.
The 2nd half of the camp were for Mentors(Group Leaders) for the Oct Orientation.
My group was called "Kamba"
This group was the BEST group I've ever lead in camps as a Facilitator.
They were the most ON, the loudest, the most cooperative, most rah rah group ever.
We got 1st for all activities, we rocks lah.
And I want to thank my group's Diploma Head, Jing Ling for really doing a good job of taking care of Kamba.
She was an ex-Tampinesian!
Graduated on 2006.
Graduated on 2006.
Alvin xDHe was also an ex-Tampinesian!
Graduated on 2007
I found another EMO guy like me!
He got a jersey that has the word "Emology"
The participants of the camps are the ones that keeps me going.
I really enjoy the times with them =)
